Nutritional deficiency is a serious concern for people who have undergone gastric bypass or lap-band weight loss surgery. Most patients are instructed to supplement their low-calorie diet with vitamin and mineral supplements. In addition, patients can make informed food choices to boost their nurtrient intake while respecting the restrictions of weight loss surgery.

Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 essential fatty acids, and Alpha Linolenic Acid (ALA), both of which offer many health benefits to our body. They range from providing cardiovascular protection, to anti-inflammatory benefits helpful in asthma, to providing improved cognitive function, rheumatoid arthritis treatment and to ease itchy skin conditions.

There are some aliments that can help you on the relief of pain. It is important to have a varied and balanced diet, with a strong presence of vegetables, fruits and fibres as well as the everyday soup. Food can have an important role in the way you deal with chronic discomforts and pain. They do not substitute drugs and medicine but provide natural mechanisms for the body to fight what causes the pain. Knowing what to eat can be a great relief.

Another super food group are foods that are deep blue, purple, red, green, or orange. For instance, take the blueberry, in a class all by itself. They are not hugely nutritious in any one area as much as they have such a broad spectrum. They have folic acid, C., carotenes, bioflavanoids and literally hundreds of other compounds, all beneficial to health. Strawberries, raspberries and most other berries are also similar in nutritional value. Tomatoes are packed with vitamin C and vitamin A, and you also get some fiber, but especially Lycopene, a powerful antioxidant, is abundant in tomatoes and tomato products. Studies found that lycopene may help reduce some cancer and heart disease.

Successful Walnut cultivation calls for a well drained, deep silt-loam or clay-loam, with plenty of lime and humus. Extra care has to be taken to avoid flooding as excess accumulation of water is harmful for development of walnut trees and thus affects the quality of nuts. Too less water is also a precursor to less than average walnuts. Walnut trees grown on shallow soils with little moisture content remain stunted and are very often affected by sunburn.

Walnuts are a great source of those all-important omega-3 fatty acids. In fact, they have the highest level of omega-3 fatty acids compared to any other nut. These omega-e fatty acids have many health benefits. They are thought to help cognitive function, have an anti-inflammatory effect, and help prevent cardiovascular problems.Ellagic acid is another antioxidant compound found in these delicious nuts. Along with several other polyphenolic compounds in walnuts, it helps support the immune system. It also appears to help protect against cancer.

California's Loma Linda University in 1993 was the first to discover the heart healthy benefits of walnuts. They found that consuming walnuts in a controlled diet reduced LDL (bad) cholesterol and overall heart disease risk more than the Step One Diet recommended by the American Heart Association. Several studies since that time have confirmed similar findings. Research has also shown that foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids can reduce blood pressure, arterial inflammation, and the stickiness of platelets. Omega-3 fatty acids are also found to be helpful as a mood supporter for people with anxiety and depression. According to Universities of Minnesota and Oslo, walnuts are cited as the largest single source of antioxidants, next to rose hips.
